About Us

We’re two Singaporeans in our 30s — one grew up in Beijing and still calls it home; the other has lived here for over a decade. Between us, we’ve roamed this city on foot, by bike, and often with dogs in tow.

Kankan grew from the way we explore Beijing: with wide-eyed curiosity, a love for the little details, and a knack for uncovering paths beyond the obvious. To us, Beijing isn’t just a megacity — it’s layered, alive, and full of contrast. The places just beyond it? They’re even wilder, warmer, and full of surprises.

Our goal is for visitors to go "kankan" China in unexpected ways — with authentic China travel experiences beyond the guidebooks that are slowly revealed through stories, food, people, and places.
